HAZMAT Incident Command



This 2-part series presents the Incident Command System (known as ICS), which is recognized as an effective model for incident management in all types of emergencies.

The Incident Command System is flexible and easily adapts to changes in the situation. This makes it especially effective in hazardous materials incidents where unknown chemicals present a high risk, and large numbers of mutual aid and allied support personnel are involved.

Presents the benefits of using a standardized system such as the ICS for incident management. Describes the eight components of the Incident Command System. Shows the organizational relationship of the five functional areas within the ICS and demonstrates how the Incident Command System can organize and track resources at a hazardous materials emergency. 18 minutes

#2 - IMPLEMENTING THE ICS AT HAZMAT INCIDENTS
Describes each of the six HAZMAT positions that may be used in the Incident Command System. Demonstrates the specific functions of each ICS HAZMAT position at a hazardous materials incident. Presents the role of allied, or support, agencies at an ICS-managed hazardous materials incident. 16 minutes
